Back in the Sewing Room

I spent the last few days, off and turning the sewing room from a bed room of the grand kids to a real sewing room again.  Quite a lot of stuff was moved to make room for the pallets the two oldest slept in.   Today I cut some of the scraps I had thrown on the ironing board focusing on the strips I'm now cutting for the class I had yesterday.

This was a great class and she gave a fabulous lecture the night before at our Contraband Guild meeting.
This quilt is made with dark, medium and light strips you sew together.  I thought I was covered with strips for this class.  I went to the 1.5, 2, and 2.5 strips  Turns out I don't have a good collection of dark, dark strips.  Basically I have a stash of mostly mediums and lights.  I do want to make this quilt though because it will be a good stash buster, and I like the effect the fabrics make.  I haven't done a quilt like this before.

Great retreat

One of my favorite retreats is Lake view in Palestine,TX.  Good friends and lots of sewing.  Includes a days visit to Common Threads Quilt Shop and The Dove,s Nest for lunch. Really good day. This retreat I got quite a bit done

.  I finished Alex' s quilt top first thing. Then I put together Cassie's quilt top.   This was a lot to get done. Then I began stitching a kit I bought of pyramids.  Had a really great time.

Current on going projects in my sewing room

I've going into sewing room much more frequently.  It's been a real treat.  In an effort to organize scraps I landed on several projects to use the scraps and found other projects I had tried years ago..
An apple core I cut a long time ago, now re cutting and using stamp to mark.  I'll be hand sewing this.

The smaller pieces folded and placed in colors and
the larger pieces folded and layered on top.  Only One drawer of many, but you got to start somewhere.

Cassie, my daughter in law, asked for a black and white with pink quilt.  I've cut the squares so far.  I'll use my go cutter to cut the stripes for the sashing.

So as you can see, I've been doing this and that, but getting there on many.

On the Wall - Bits and Pieces

Often I think that I need to show work I've finished, when most of the time I'm working on bits and pieces.  Leaders and pieces which are really bits and pieces.  I've worked on Bow Ties for a long time and still want to keep making it bigger.  So many quilts I want to make and all very scrappy.  That takes time, so I need to post more pictures  of work in progress.  So here goes.
Bow ties and Hour class blocks that measure 3.5 in.
