UFO Block Swap

I love this quilt!  The blocks are from a swap where we swapped blocks, sashings and white on white 2.5 squares. This group I've been with for years and they are all good sewers so when we swap everything turns out good.  I would like to make another..

Sewing therapy

Sometimes, I need to just sit and sew with no particular end date or pressure.  I have several things going in that regard and I also have some that have due dates.  Here's an update on progress so far.
Johns still suffering from his fall and broken ankle, time is harder to find for sewing and mostly just stress relief.

Apple Crisper's swap for this year

I like mystery quilts and this is a Designer Mystery from Fat Quarter Shop with no end date in mind.

These little gems are called waste triangles.  They finish 1.75 "  Not sure what I will do with these, but will try to work them in the quilt

An update on the Scary Cats from Common Threads quilt shop.  Another no end date in mind.  This is  13 done so far.  A good carry along during wound care for John.

This is an old UFO and it is now quilted and bound  Nice to finish a oldie.

Playing catch up with the blog posting

Yea, it's been a while since I posted.   But I have been busy.  I went to Leigh's to stay with Ashleigh.  On the way I stopped and bought a Featherweight machine.
My 1947 Featherweight

I had a mini sewing retreat in Lewisville 2 days alone while Ash was in school, and 2 days of sewing with Ashleigh set up in front of the TV with a NCIS marathon.  We also went to the show and did some shopping.  That was all fun.Love being with her.

A long report from the Sewing room

Andrew's top coming together
I've gotten much of Andrew's quilt together.  The big block are 4 string blocks, then sashing.  The cornerstones are red and I like the punch.  There is one more row to go and border.  Can't wait to see how the border will look.  I found some  black with Boo written all over it which I plan to use for the back.  I think this will be the cutest quilt.
Trimming half square triangles for my next project.

The best tools for trimming half square triangles are the small Broklyn revolver , A 3.5 Bloc Lock ruler and small rotary cutter.

Ah, the satisfaction of tariffed up units
My next quilt I want to do is a pattern by Bonnie Hunter.  Blue Ridge Mountain I think, anyway it takes 4 patches from 2 in. strips and Triangles cut from 3.5 in strips.  These triangles came from Alex's quilt which I didn't use.  Love that.

Trimming up left overs that needed to be put away.  It's so much easier a little at a time rather than a huge bag full.  Still have one of those.

Apple Crispers block exchange.  Love the high heel shoes

I talked about this box of scraps that had been cut for these units.  I 'm still making the units.  These trimmed up to be 4.5 in.

I ended up with over 30 so far.
Someday I want to do a medallion quilt and maybe these units will go into it.

So this is the report from the sewing room.  I've not felt able to be in there much until recently, but it amazes me what I can get done in 2-3 days.  Also, trying to get cleaning done too.  I'm looking forward to another Bonnie Hunter quilt and more cleaning out, making scraps useful and so on.  I reorganized my embroidery and wool kits and hope to get started on one of these.

I did start a new knitting project which is a KAL from Hertiage spinning and weaving.  No pictures yet, but the shawl started with 497 stitches.  Definetly long term project.

Other things going on in Sewing Room

I have finally, maybe, given up posting to my blog on my I pad.  So, I'm having to get out the ball and chain computer.  I am totally spoiled to the connivance of the I pad.  Probably need a new one.  Anyway, this is my third post today, trying to catch up with progress.  Have been making progress and enjoying it so much.
October Lotto block for guild
Bow tie progress. Decided to added inner border and a  pieced border
Organization of the next Leader Ender project.  Will finish 3 inches/

Quilt quilted by friend

Wow, what a friend,  she worked two days custom quilting my red and white Irish chain, with me standing around trying to be useful.   She did let me trim a few triangle squares and do lunch, but such a small amount for all the work she did.  I love it too!  Now, on to binding.

On the Wall

Oh yes, this feels great, I got finished with another set of blocks from our red and white exchange with Apple Crisper's.  I think this is the last swap of this block.  I will only have enough blocks for a twin and if they don't want to do more swaps I'll be making some more.  Next we'll be working on the next block which is a lot easier.

And ... in addition I got the block for Slightly Bias completed for Jan.
Now... I have two quilts almost completed, so that's my goal now.  I do have one obligation block to do for the Beaumont Guild.  This will be an machine application. Not my strong suit, but there you are, needs to be done.  Hopefully soon I'll be showing finished tops from my UFO list for this year.  The quilting will have to wait for next year, but that's OK.  I will still be able to call this a finish.

More about June

This is "Yea" last installment of blocks we are swapping in Apple Crisper's. The block are pretty, but I'm tired of them We didn't swap but every other month and it seemed to drag on forever. The process started with my 2" Accuquilt die, then cut to the pattern, then put together by that tiny little picture you see. It's appears bigger in real life. You could get off base pretty easily with this on. Will eventually get those blocks put together.

This finished set did turn out pretty.

In Slightly Bias group we are making one block a month. This month was for June and the theme was beaches. I tried to do water colors. Batiks worked very well for this. July is 4th of July colors, but haven't gotten that done yet.

These are the Carrie Hall hand applique that I've done so far. I just finihed one more and decided to piece the blocks I need to put the rest of the blocks together.

The first block you see I just finished this past week. I will be working out a plan to stop with these blocks.

This month the row by row is due in Happy Scrappers and I decided to add the rows of log cabin blocks. I do like this quilt!

I guess that all my to do this month. I really have a hankering to do a red and white quilt, but first my granddaughter will be down to make a quilt. So hopefully will get more posting will get done as we work on that.

Productive day

When you have a sewing day it amazing what little things that get done. I started cutting out Andrew's alphabet quilt. He has started Mother's Day out and I guess I should have finished this before now, but couldn't get started on it. Amazing what you can get done when you get cracking!

These small blocks are a swap with Barbara in Happy Scrappers. These little rails will finished 3 in. when finished. It's easy to get a number of repeats. Good thing there is a swap going on.

Our next swap in Apple Crisper's is due next month. I had done half the blocks and got the other half cut and sewn. The pattern is great, but you can get confused if you're watching TV while you sew.

Retreating at Dry Creek

Spent a wonderful 5 days at the Retreat Center with my Happy Scrapper Friends and more.  The weather for the most part was beautiful.  The flowers were blooming and everything looked beautiful.  It was peaceful there as always and I so enjoy being there.

It's no doubt I'm ADD since I can't seem to stay with one thing at a time.  So, I made pictures of the progress I made on various swaps and projects.
